Educating Voters Online

Misinformation and disinformation are rampant online. Groups like the ones below - Onyx Impact, the Rural Voices Project/Heartland Fund and Voto Latino - educate voters online with facts and information from sources they trust about issues that matter to them.

Onyx Impact

Onyx Impact is a nonprofit research, education, and digital innovation organization dedicated to building healthier, safer, and more-just digital information for Black communities. It builds digital power, defends truth, and amplifies Black voices by reaching news-avoidant Black voters online. It reduces the impact of disinformation designed to divide the Black community, impede  trust in institutions, and suppress civic engagement. It is ready to protect Black communities with trusted information at the speed and scale that this moment demands, reaching millions of people daily. In 2026, Onyx Impact will:

  1. Rapidly respond to ensure Black history is not erased during the America 250 campaign, invest in Black media, support Black journalists, and train Black Web fellows.

  2. Build and manage social media distribution channels to millions of young people daily.

  3. Scale up Aisha, its humanity-centered AI system, that is like a brilliant, trusted   reference librarian who helps you research questions online. Aisha includes an app built especially for Black people ages 21 to 45 that delivers high-quality information, tools, and pathways to wealth, wellbeing, culture, and civic power.

Rural Voices Project / Heartland Fund

Rural and small-town voters comprise over 40% of the population in PA, MI, NC, OH, IA, NH, and WI. The Rural Voices Project engages them and those in towns and smaller cities in civic dialogue on issues most important to their lives. The project uses hyper-local social media to amplify the voices of residents of these communities whose lives, families, and communities have been hurt by recent policies and budget cuts. It’s currently operating in three states: Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Voto Latino Foundation

Voto Latino Foundation is a civic engagement organization focused on educating and empowering a new generation of Latinx voters, and creating a more robust and inclusive democracy. Voto Latino Foundation’s activities include civic engagement, issue advocacy, and leadership development. It registers Latinx voters (the second largest voting bloc in the country), educates a new generation of voters, and encourages civic participation. It helps Latinx voters become informed about where, when, and how to vote, and how to choose candidates that align most closely with their values. Their ongoing voter registration drives, including those on National Voter Registration Day, have helped more Latinx voters engage in elections, contributing to record numbers of eligible and actual voters in recent years.

Voto Latino Foundation is active in AZ, MI, NC, NV, AND PA and works throughout every election cycle to build a resilient online infrastructure to reach their target population. They monitor their impact and have helped increase Latino voter turnout by 5.7% over the last election cycle.
